DIY oat milk gone wrong!
Why is it so hard to drink water? Why do I need a type of flavor in my liquid? Soda is a NO. Squeezing fresh fruits into water does not satisfy that thirst. Artificial favors mess with the digestive system. Sparkling water leaves me bloated. Milk surprisingly quenches all forms of thirst.
Yaayyyyyy. Solution found!!
Errrrrr,.......maybe not. I celebrated too early because lactose sensitivity just knocked me down.
As I roam around the dairy aisle in grocery store, I see so many dairy-free alternatives - soy milk, almond milk, oat milk, flax seed milk. Geez, these are premium products (you have to remember that I am a student living off freebies).
#thinking. I can divert some of my savings on gas to my quench my thirst. I pick up one of each and grudgingly paid.
As I sit at the kitchen island, I take a sip from all and boy do I love the taste.
#satisfaction.
In my ever curious state, I read up on all the ingredients and search on YouTube for the easiest DIY videos. Making my own oat milk appears to be easiest and money saving. A huge smile appears on my face as I order a 60 lbs (27kg) bag of rolled oats and fine mesh sieve with expedited shipping (How did I not picture what 60 lbs looks like?). This is an investment in staying hydrated therefore, no feeling of guilt.
With YouTube playing loudly at the background, I diligently followed the instructions to the extent that sneezed when the lady in the video sneezed.
The reality is that these videos are edited to show you certain things but not the entire duration.
As I sweat profusely at 65 degrees, muscles aching, legs sleepy, I say to myself, this is a price to pay for the bank account. The blending took less than 3 minutes but the filtering was about 1 hour standing on your feet in the exact same spot.

After trying this 3 different ways on 3 different occasions, the end product has always been so slimy you could easily slide into someone's DM frictionless.
A strong economy runs on exchange of money. I plan to contribute to this successful economy by continuing to pay for oat milk. As for the left over oats, I do not know what the future holds for you. One thing I know is to first buy a little quantity of ingredients when starting something new.
Time to clean up the oats clogged dishes and sink.
#sighs.
