EPIC fail to Sweet success!

About 3 weeks ago, I had an "EPIC fail" moment with making beef pastry / meatpie.

A dear friend of mine (Tayo) immediately uplifted my spirits by sharing an easy and simple recipe with me. I purchased all ingredients in the recipe but left them in my refrigerator for over 2 weeks. Everytime I saw them sitting in the cold, they smiled back at me in excitement (Yeah, I may communicate with ingredients). My response to them was to check the expiration date and console myself that I had more time to procrastinate. I normally do not procrastinate, so, you can imagine the sleepless nights I had knowing I had an upcoming battle. The fear of not wanting another epic fail was real.

Fast forward to 2 weeks later.......
Okie dokie! I need to get this over with and deal with the outcome.

Ingredients
Almond flour (2 cups)
Mozzarella cheese (200G)
Cream cheese (100G)
Salt
Black pepper
Baking powder (1tbsp)
Minced meat (Whatever you want your filling to be - Chicken, Turkey, Veggies)
Seasonings (Garlic powder, Onion powder, Chilli powder, Thyme)
Chopped onions
Chopped garlic
Mixed vegetables
Parchment paper
Egg (2)

Method
Minced meat filling
Heat some olive oil in a sauce pan. Add the minced meat and stir till almost fully cooked. Add in your chopped onions, chopped garlic, seasonings and stir. Allow to fully cook. Lower the heat, add your mixed vegetables and some beef broth. Allow to simmer till it is almost dry. Turn off the stove and allow to cool.
Pastry
Mix the almond flour, a pinch of salt, some black pepper and the baking powder in a bowl and set aside. Melt the mozzarella and cream cheese in a pan on a stove. When a smooth consistency has been attained, pour the melted cheese in the bowl containing the flour mix. Use your hands to mix until even. Add one egg and mix again till even.
Pastry molding
Divide the pastry into the desired serving size. Mold a serving size into a ball and place between two sheets of parchment paper. Apply pressure with your hand till flattened and then use a rolling pin to even out the pastry (Because it is brittle, do not make it too thin as it will break apart when folding the pastry over). Add your minced meat filling, fold over the pastry with the parchment paper and use your finger to seal the ends. Use a fork to ensure a proper seal (you may need to dip the fork in water to prevent the pastry from sticking to it). Brush the top of the beef pastry with some whisked eggs and bake in an oven pre-heated to 350 degrees for 25 - 30 minutes.

 Juicy and yummy outcome. Ingredients

Mold a serving size. Add your minced meat filling.

Fold pastry over the filling. Folded pastry with filling before using the fork.

After sealing with fork and egg washing.
(The first attempt is always the black-sheep).
Moment of truth - The final outcome.

Does this recipe actually have lesser calorie than using all purpose flour and butter from my "EPIC fail"?

My mold size makes 7 servings.
  Almond flour All purpose flour
2 cups of flour 1280 cal 960 cal
 100G cream cheese 220 cal 0
 200G mozzarella 640 cal 0
 8oz (227G) butter 0 1600 cal
 1 Egg 100 cal 100 cal
 Filling (approx.) 560 560
 Total calories 2800 3220
 Calories/serving 400 460

Geez! the nerdy side of me did this calculation. Success really pushes you to go the extra mile.
I am reconsidering trying the all purpose flour recipe a second time. However, I will not be purchasing ingredients anytime soon because I just got back my sleep and I want this feeling of success to last long.
